When you think of Halloween, what do you think of first? Pumpkins? Ghosts? Candy?
Did someone say “candy”??? There have been many polls taken about the Halloween candies that Trick or Treaters prefer. They do differ, but the number one favorite is usually……..Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Here are some other favorites:
2. Twix — A favorite combo of crisp biscuit, caramel, and milk chocolate (meh, in my opinion)
3. Snickers — Packed with nougat, caramel, peanuts, and milk chocolate (good choice)
4. Kit Kat — A classic blend of crispy wafers and milk chocolate (kind of just like Twix)
5. Butterfinger — Known for its flaky, crisp peanut butter center (I wouldn’t turn one away)
6. 100 Grand — Features chewy caramel and crispy rice in milk chocolate (one of my favorites from way back)
7. Mr. Goodbar — Milk chocolate loaded with roasted peanuts (not bad; after all, it’s chocolate)
8. Nestlé Crunch — Smooth milk chocolate with airy, crisp puffed rice (who doesn’t love a Nestlé Crunch?)
9. Reese’s Pieces — Peanut butter candy covered in a crunchy shell (I prefer M&Ms)
10. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars — The traditional American chocolate standard (yeah, but I prefer dark chocolate)
11. Starburst — Chewy, fruit-flavored square chews (in a pinch if I am desperate)
12. Heath Bar — Crunchy English toffee coated in milk chocolate (maybe; a little too hard)
13. Flavored Tootsie Rolls — A twist on the classic chewy chocolate roll (I prefer the regular flavor)
14. M&M’s — Iconic candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (who doesn’t like these?)
15. Baby Ruth — Packed with peanuts, caramel, and nougat (they grew on me)
16. Twizzlers — A chewy, classic red licorice-style treat (my daughter loves them)
17. Junior Mints — Dark chocolate-covered creamy mint patties (an old favorite of mine – always at the movies)
18. Haribo Gummies — Chewy, fruit-flavored gummy bears and shapes (blech)
19. PayDay — Sweet salted peanuts wrapped around a caramel core (I have always loved these)
20. Skittles — Bright, tart, and fruity bite-sized candies (nah)
What about the other end of the poll? Which candies are the least favorite?
Candy Corn – Frequently tops national polls (with around 36% of Americans disliking it) due to its waxy texture and overly sweet flavor (Absolutely love it and always have. Love the texture, love the sugar! Addicted!)
Circus Peanuts – Widely despised for their bright orange foam appearance and artificial banana flavor (gross)
Black Licorice – Disliked for its strong, medicinal taste (I kind of like it, especially in Good and Plenty. YUM)
Peanut Butter Kisses – The classic orange-and-black wrapped taffy pieces that tend to stick to teeth and wrappers alike (have you ever seen these anywhere except in a trick-or-treat bag?)
Necco Wafers – Known for their chalky, dry texture and vintage taste (always liked them except the green ones that taste like paint)
Wax Coke Bottles / Wax Lips – Novelty items that offer little actual candy value after chewing through the wax (is that even food?)
Smarties – Often criticized for being a chalky, flavor-light sugar tablet (dull)

When you think about Halloween music, what do you think of?
“Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett & the Crypt-Kicker 5 (1962) – Of course!!!!! The quintessential novelty dance track of the spooky season.
“Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr. (1984) – A chart-topping movie theme song that remains a Halloween party staple.
“Thriller” by Michael Jackson (1982) – Widely considered the most famous Halloween song ever recorded. I would say “The Monster Mash,” but that might just be my era!
“I Put a Spell on You” by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins (1956) – A theatrical rhythm and blues classic covered by many artists since.
“Superstition” by Stevie Wonder (1972) – A funky, superstition-themed track found on nearly every October party list
“Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon (1978) – Famous for its piano riff and howling references.
“Black Magic Woman” by Santana (1970) / Fleetwood Mac – A witchy blues-rock crossover standard.
